Commemorating Civil War Soldiers
Saturday, April 29, 2017 - Sons of Confederate Veterans 7th Brigade Camps and The High Springs Historical Society & Museum hosted a memorial event honoring both Union and Confederate soldiers that are buried in the High Springs, Fl. cemetery.
Museum President, Rodger Chambers gave a Welcoming Introduction, while museum Director, Rupert Danyow played the part of a scout for both sides of the Civil War. Museum member Cheryl Waterman gave a presentation on the History of High Springs Cemetery and the nine soldiers, eight for the confederate side and one for the Union side, who are buried in the High Springs Cemetery.
A 21-gun salute and cannon fire by John Hance O'steen Camp, General Eugene A. Carr and the Dixie Defenders concluded the Memorial event.
